Big Camping Tents

Welcome to our site about big camping tents.  Here you’ll find a growing information base about the uses and features for large tents as well as where to find the best deals and the best quality if you’re interested in purchasing one.

We hope you’ll find our site interesting and informative.  If you wish to contribute, we welcome your observations as well.

If you’re like me, you love camping in the great outdoors with friends and family.

Would you like to experience the joys of camping, but with a lot less fuss and muss? One of today’s best innovations is the big camping tent.

Why are they so great? Imagine a weather-proof tent large enough to fit an entire family of four to as many as ten or more. Today’s big camping tents have enough head room to allow the tallest member of your family to stand upright. (Remember in the old days when you had to hunch over to get into the tent?) They are made of a special flame-retardant fabric that keeps the rain and nasty weather out, but keeps those people inside dry and comfortable.

Amenities usually include a rain fly that fits over the top of the tent to allow rain and sleet to shed off without soaking the tent fabric. The rain fly protects windows as well as the roof and door. There is an attached floor that keeps creepy-crawly things out, but also keeps personal effects in. Many of these tents have sewn-in pockets to keep clutter to a minimum. Some of these tents even have closets!

In most cases one person can set up the tent in a matter of ten minutes. A great feature is that the installation instructions typically will be sewn into the tent storage bag. The tent poles are extra strong and built to last, so no need to worry about having to find replacement poles any time soon (unless, of course, you lose one!)

Included with your tent is a set of anchor pins to keep it securely fastened to the ground in the wind.

Most big camping tents have several windows equipped with screens to keep flying bugs and other varmints out. It is very nice to open your windows to get the summer breeze. The door will have a screen as well to allow more ventilation, and all the screens can be zipped closed if the weather turns cooler.

Many tents come with a top mesh vent also, which keeps air circulating nicely.

Some are roomy enough to allow you to cook inside, although, of course, you would want to take proper fire precautions.

I’ve seen people bring a fold-up picnic table and assemble it inside their big camping tent. That tells you how large these tents are now, there is enough room for a picnic table and cooking area, as well as sleeping area too!

Some tents include separate rooms, all tied together as one unit. It’s kind of like a house with bedrooms – one for the kids, one to use as a living area, one as master bedroom. Many of these multi-room tents also have room dividers that can be unzipped and removed, in case you want just one large room.

Gone are the days when it took hours to set up your tent. With today’s newest camping products, going camping with your family is easy and fun. Why spend all your vacation time getting your campsite ready when all you need is good friends and family, a big camping tent, some marshmallows and some firewood to make it complete?
